The characterization of the supposed protagonist is so badly done that I came off hating her. The book discusses a rape happening and there are some descriptions of the rape but I didn't find it to be triggering. However, this is such a terribly written book and there are so many better book club selections that I'd move on past this one.(less)

Once she got what she wanted (the baby) she didn't him anymore and didn't get in the way of Callum's reveal. It sounds like Callum was spiraling out of control with guilt and this way Jodi doesn't need to worry about him anymore now that the baby was here.(less)
