Does Christopher acquire ASL as a child, or does he pick it up later in life? I don't think I can read another book about a deaf kid's language deprivation due to hearing doctors and professionals saying "your child will never speak or learn English if you sign with them." Lies.

Thomas Caulfield Christopher did acquire ASL as a young person and later matriculated to the Rochester Institute of Technology National Institute for the Deaf.
