My 13 year old grandson loves books about World War II and we are also talking a great deal about racial equality and how Black Americans have not been recognized for their achievements. Does anyone know if this is appropriate for a mature 13 year old?

More than being about WWII, it's about how different societies (French, German, artistic, etc.) vs. American society in their attitude towards African Americans between early 1900's to post WWII. It's extremely well written and a book I couldn't put down. I think it's a very good book for a 13 year old.(less)
