Does it matter that the title of this book is widely written as 'In The Mother's Land' where it should be 'In The Mothers' Land'? The difference is quite significant I would suggest.

I read it before the first novel and now I think it was all for the best.

I was just like the main character, facing the same mysteries, discovering Motherland just as she did. Had I read the Silent City, I would have had answers that Lisbeï will never get and being more knowledgeable than the main character about a country I don't live in sounds gruesome to me, even if there is still a lot to discover about the History of Motherland. I guess a couple more books would be required.

To sum up : I have absolutely no regrets about reading book 2 before book 1.(less)
