It seemed like a huge part of Lina’s story was tied to her Brazilian ancestry and her immigrant mother and aunts. She talks a lot about how her family’s culture has molded her life choices and personality. And while it is rarely explicitly written from Max’s point of view, race was a huge play in his story as well, being a privileged white man.
