There's a scene early in the book where an actress is sexually assaulted which in my opinion was a bit too graphic. In addition I don't think this book would hold the attention of a young teen. Futhermore, I truly believe you will get a lot more out of the story if you already know all the references. Throughout the book, the author mentions several characters and events that add so much to the narrative and I believe it would be detrimental to your reading experience if you did not previously know about them.
So I would definitely recommend you finish all of Austen's books before diving into this one. :)(less)
