Is this the last book in the series? I take it may be, after reading the acknowledgement at end of book and an excerpt for a new series.

We follow the series faithfully through several books and hope the protagonist will chose the right man. Then when she finally chooses, the series ends! I like to see the characters happy for awhile, not just a hint at a happy ending.

I would like to see the McMurphy beautifully renovated by Allie's architect father and more successful than ever. Allie could be blissfully happy with Rex and maybe helping him detect (although he of course would discourage this). Perhaps a new little permanent islander could come along and we could see the difficulty in raising a child so far from medical help in winter and or the danger an ice bridge could cause for a child. The island is gorgeous in summer, but let's see what it is really like in winter.

Am I to take it that Allie did choose Rex? He offered that she could move in with her for while the roof is being put back on the hotel with other repairs but I don't recall a definite response from Allie. After following from #1 right through this was very disappointing wrap up.
