I've only read one but I'd say no - although if you try REALLY hard you could claim to see similarities.
These ships are made from the skeletons of sea dragons and are dead; the Liveships are made from what are,essentially, the eggs of dragons and are alive.
I suppose, though, there is a similarity in that (I'm guessing a bit here) both series are about preventing people using sentient, intelligent creatures to make their ships.(less)
