Darwin’s Tulip is a metaphor for Jack’s fiancée. It took billions of years of biology to form her just the way she was. Perfect in his eyes; like a radiant tulip. If you go back to the big bang, how many small events had to happen so that she came into existence?

So yeah, the title is connected to Charles Darwin. Her existence required a precise set of evolutionary occurrences.
