What do you think is the significance of italics when she quotes her mom vs quotation marks when she quotes her siblings?
Julie She allows her mom to have a voice in the book. When I read those italics, I hear her mom speaking.

I'm 80 pages in and I do not like the writing. Broom jumps around a lot and there is no story forming. Does it get better? Does the voice become more focused?
