Question on the age-appropriateness of this book... My 6th grade daughter has been reading a lot of historical fiction focused on the Holocaust. Too young for this book or a good natural extension of her interests?

I've received notes from students as young as 11 who have read this novel and I've been deeply impressed with their perspectives and how they've related to the characters. I think it all depends on your daughter's maturity level, her ability to discuss any questions she may have with you, and process what occurred during WWII. Ultimately, this book is about empowering students to speak up against bigotry, hatred, and injustice. There is a light romance, an American POW who shares his story, which was inspired by actual events, as well as a Holocaust survivor's story.
