One reviewer mentioned a part in this book about Keele's horse, and it sounds like something pretty devastating happened there. Was there any animal abuse/harm in this book (to Irish or to any other animal), or even just natural deaths told in a super sad and heartbreaking way? I'd really like to read this book (the author is a fellow Boulderite!), but I'm hypersensitive on this issue with animals. Thanks in advance!

But I was under the impressions she may have known about Madonna House through her parents but that they did not necessarily send her there? It was a bit ambiguous given her father knew where she was and called/wrote her there. Yet there this empty space between her almost dying and showing up there. How did she get there? Who helped her recover enough from 'near death' to being able bodied enough to take a bus to the town near Madonna House?(less)
