Was there any mainstream inspiration behind this? When I read New Orleans I just thought Klaus.

French vampire/vampire names have been a mainstay since the 19th century and Sheridan La Fanau . Saint Germain was the name of the vampire from the "Hotel Transylvania" series by Chelsea Quinn Yarbo (totally unrelated to the animated films).
Les Cour de Lions sounds a lot like "de Lioncourt" which was the last name of Anne Rice's main character.(less)
