I am about a third through the book, and like it a lot. I just can't imagine how a person so mentally ill can keep a job as a nurse. Especially the times she seems to stay in her room for days at a time. That one aspect of the story seems manipulated. Am I too critical?

Did anyone else wonder what happened to Peter's stuff left at his former home after Kate retrieved the shoebox of his treasures from the new girl next door? I kept waiting for Kate to surprise Peter with his childhood box but it never happened.
