This book had such amazing reviews and such a fascinating beginning . . . but what happened? I've rarely read anything I've been so confused by. I didn't understand the ending AT ALL. Phillips' portrayal of a nursing mom was quite accurate, and her struggle and appreciation of motherhood, but . . . . just SO disappointed. Others?

So what happened at the end exactly? Super confused...

I like the concept of the two women merging, rather than Mol killing Molly and taking over her life. I think the two women loved each other, and realized their need for one another.
There was a running theme of Molly’s car missing, which was included in the epilogue. Did another Molly make it through the Pit and have her car?
Then there’s the question of “Bomber Molly”. The two women concluded that they would never do something like that, unless it was to protect their children. Was the bomber herself trying to protect her own Vivian and Ben? The Bible implies that somewhere there is a matriarchal society, Perhaps Bomber Molly was protecting her whole universe from us.
Definitely going to read something light after this. Any good comedy recommendations?

I didn't like this book at all. I think it had potential, but I was so sick of hearing about breastfeeding every few pages, ok we get it , motherhood. Also, the story never did explain the presence of the two characters and the tie with the PIT, kind of a let down. I kept on hoping for an amazing explanation. The story put in the hands of a different writer like King would have been phenomenal. Anybody agree?

The way it's written, I was compelled to keep reading to find out what happened, what was the end goal, how the connection between then universes came to be... and then just was left very confused and feeling like I never want to rely on breastfeeding should I have kids. The potential was there but.. I felt like it fell short too. (less)
