It looks like a bunch of readers have read this book and reviewed it in English, so I was hoping I could find a translation somewhere in English. Does anyone know if there is an English version?

I own both Hungarian and English copies (both from Hungary) But it appears you can buy it used on Amazon with the link above. I haven't read the English version yet, (just started the Hungarian one) so I can't comment on the accuracy of the translation yet.(less)

Cushing's translation is well worth the read, but beginning with a revised title ("Eclipse of the Crescent Moon" instead of "Stars of Eger") he adds a lot of gloss. I can compare his English translation to the Hungarian original and I find details, sentences, even paragraphs that he added to the original text. I can't figure out why. Part of the attraction of Gárdonyi's prose is its terse pace. Why add to it?
