I think Tom Rush did a version of it on an early album. He probably learned it from Eric Von Schmidt who recorded it a year or so earlier. Since Von Schmidt also taught Dylan a lot of old blues songs and Farina was the brother-in-law of Joan Baez, it was in the air in the mid-sixties NYC-Cambridge MA folk scene.

Re Doors: I believe Richard Farina had died (1966) before the Doors recorded their song titled "Been Down So Long" (1971). So if there was any homage being paid it was Doors to Farina . . . or to the Furry Lewis original.
