I am listening to the Audiobook of Chiefs, and am several hours in - I am at the discovery of the second victim. I am a patient reader, but this book is boring me to death. Is there anything here worth persisting for? I don't like to give up on novels, but I am on the verge of tossing this one aside. thanks ...

My opinion would have been to finish - not because it moves quicker - but because I enjoyed the historical perspective of how race relations progressed in the south throughout the book. Even at the end you do not get a complete, gory explanation (where everything is spelled out) of the actual murders. Newer books always tell you everything and leave nothing to the imagination!! This is definitely a "throwback" to books written a long time ago which leave you to think ... (less)
