I understand his drive and callousing of his mind but is there anything he does that makes him happy? It seems as though he is obsessed with proving everyone including himself wrong. Does he do anything for the love of it? Because it makes him feel good? If like to be able to relate to that side of him since I'm not going to become a seal.

It seems like he is traumatized what happened in his childhood and therefor seeks for physical pain. Did he mention going to a therapist? Because I cannot remember. Thanks!

Anthony No, he didn’t. I think seeing a therapist still has somewhat negative stigma around it (unfortunately). I wonder what David thinks about it.

Anyone else find his repeated use of the word "pussy" to describe weakness and lack of courage completely and utterly sexist and derogatory? I am impressed by his story but highly unimpressed by his reference to female body parts to describe negative aspects of a person. I really wish he weren't so ignorant about that.
