N…morehmm, hope i am still in time to give you some advice. I really liked the book, but i think it may be a bit on the boring side for a read aloud book. Not that much suspense in it or anything. and there are some long slow marts in the book about how ideal civilisations might look like, which i think grades 7/8 wont really like that much.
I could recomand HG wells war of the worlds. A great book to read out loud for that group :D(less)

Overall though, the concepts were very interesting. I would say it was the best except for book #4 in the Rama series. That was way above this one in many ways. Mostly the concepts, and the natural feeling, which is much different that most science fiction.(less)
