So I am a little confused about "After Malison". In the end, the handicapped man opens the door instead of Malison. So is the handicapped man Malison? And the other guy is a stand-in for public appearances? Is Malison simply not staying at that hotel? What a coincidence in that case, that the man from the bar would stay at the precise room believed by the narrator to be Malison's. Am I missing something?

I'm dismayed to see Sedaris credited with a quote that seems ripped-off from the movie Johnny Be Good (released in 1988, several years before the book was published)? It was uttered by Paul Gleason, "If you're looking for sympathy, check the dictionary between shit and syphilis." What gives?
