The setting for this book seems so wrong! I get the Montauk part, but they act more like it's the 1950s and not the 1930s. And Beatrice is just so stupid. Her husband was a brute, but would a woman in 1938 really act the way she did knowing she would lose everything? And she doesn't seem sad, just weird.
