Why does this incredible hard sf novel receive almost no respect relative to the quality and craftsmanship? IMHO, this is in my top ten hard sf novels ever. Yet, it was not even nominated for a single Hugo, Nebula, Locus, John Campbell, or even the British SF award. This is a glaring omission and I do want to know why?
