If you are interested in these issues, it is worth reading. Meacham covers Prescott Bush in a fair amount of detail for a biography of George HW Bush. This includes the Union Banking Corporation and seizure by the U.S. government. There is also a decent discussion of the Iran-Contra scandal and mistakes GHWB made in the handling of it; namely, the impulse to cover-up even when he wasn't involved. I also learned a lot about Desert Storm / Desert Shield. Specifically, the diverse coalition that was build, the limited scope, and how WW2 and Vietnam impacted GHWB's thinking about it.

I guess the simplest answer to your question is: if you are looking to learn about the issues raised in your question, this book is very good for that. If you are looking for confirmation of previously held views, you may need to look for another book. (less)
