The main character Leo is written as demi, though the word isn't used on the page. Evgenia, who becomes Leo's confidante, is a lesbian, while her brother Max is gay, and has a husband named Ewan (Max and Ewan are background-ish, but Evgenia is a main player). And then Daniel, also a main cast member (though he doesn't become central to the plot until act three), is asexual. No queer character is harmed in the course of the book (no burying your gays!), and there is an emphasis on happy endings for all :)(less)
