Whenever I attend comic cons or steampunk fairs in my costumes, I find a much needed escape from the overwhelming world. I can relax and be someone else, even if for a little while. The subject made me think about some of the people in my life that have a hard time just getting through their daily activities. It made me think of some issues I have myself, as a result of witnessing these behaviors as a child. I gave my protagonist a desire, put him in a costume, and then he told me about all the conflicts and triumphs along his journey. I felt like it was a good time to address mental health awareness. It was a little bit of therapy for me, and I wanted to share it with others.(less)
