I asked this very same question during the Q&A thinking I had missed one of my favorite characters in a more recent book.

Nelson originally entitled the book, “The Quiet End.” Apparently his US publisher did not think the title was sufficiently marketable. He disagreed but nonetheless you can see how it worked out. (less)
