Wyst: Alastor 1716, a somewhat diffident account of the proceedings is presented in a letter, from a correspondent who Does Not Approve, to Jantiff the viewpoint character, in chapter 5. And an account of the aftermath of precisely that horrible fate having befallen Kedidah (an egalitarian female character) is tendered near the end of chapter 7. Jack Vance declined to present the grisly scene itself, opting to have Jantiff and Kedidah refer to it afterward, shortly before she commits suicide.(less)
