In fact, I imagine most people already have experience with this. For example, sometimes when discussing a person, sex of whom you do not know, you use pronouns they/them, since he/she are not an option.

Making up new pronouns in the English language is advocated against by most non-binary people. The reason is that we already have words for human pronouns that are wired into our brains. New words would feel extremely dehumanizing, unless they are chosen by the bon-binary community or individual for themselves. It is not that difficult to get used to the use of the they/them pronouns, especially in comparison to the very real difficulties non-binary people experience throughout their lives. The word "you" used to mean plural only (just like they), but is now used for both singular and plural forms. So... language evolves, we get used to the changes and move on. (less)
