Never mind John Lennon's 'Imagine' paean to peace and love, which virtually sainted him. Do you think his cutting books of "sick" humor, 'In His Own Write, ' and 'A Spaniard In The Works' really got through to a large appreciative audience? Surley not every reader can parse Lennon's intense wordplay and punning. Were these two books, which both charted at #1 upon release, just more Beatles merchandise?
