The way to do this is to make sure that he (Danziger) is never born. Si went back and disrupted the chance meeting between Danziger's mother and father. Early on in the book, Danziger mentioned he would love to time travel back to 1882 himself but he knows that is the year that his parents had that chance meeting and he did not want to disrupt the events of the year. At this point in 1970, Danziger is an older man, and seems to be worn out by age and the gravity of the time travel project and the government take-over of it. Seems he asked Si to make sure it all goes away.(less)
