Can someone please explain how Paradise the Lost was put in one of the cards of the Deck of Destiny? We get the flashback of her bringing the deck to the Temple of Stars to hide there and she offers up Tella as collateral. It is never explained how she is put in one of the cards. Did she trade places with Jacks? That doesn't make sense though.

She stored the Deck of Destiny in the Vaults, but the price was Donatella. Paradise the Lost wasn't able to pay that price, so I think as punishment she got put into the Deck, and wasn't found until Donatella got the Deck from the Vaults and released her mother from it by taking her place.(less)
