I'm finding this book fascinating. The family saga is very interestingly presented and the history and culture of Korea is fascinating. Have been a fan of Pearl Buck's for years. This is one of her best historical novels. In reading about the author, discovered that there are two additional books in The Good Earth trilogy. Does anyone else like this book?

I haven't read Pearl Buck since I read The Good Earth as a teen. Having lived in South Korea, I was surprised to find this book in a used bookstore. I am now so nostalgic for the culture and people I lived with there, and also now understand so much more about the history and customs that I encountered. I ended up doing side-research along the way, and used a lot of Kleenex to wipe away tears.(less)
