Just read the reviews (esp the one with a long quote about God) and although I'm interested in the story and don't mind to read how they felt God or anything, but as an atheist I'm not interested in a book that goes on and on about it. So I'm wondering; is this a very religious book?

It would be impossible to accurately relay this story of survival without acknowledging where faith played into the experiences of both the plane’s passengers and their families at home when they went missing. Would this be a good read for someone interested in self-help and hoping to increase their motivation (saving the distances, of course)? Is the surviving experienced too focused on religion, or could some motivational lessons be extracted if the reader was an atheist?

AMY Not at all. There is little focus on religion. All the focus is on survival, and how to survive. Not motivational.

Why are there so many spoilers here? I'm looking for a book I want to read. Now, I will not be surprised to find out that cannabalism is something the team had to resort to to survive. WTF man.

I think it was s…moreI don't necessarily think that's the theme, "..all humans have it in them to survive...". Many that had resorted to cannibalism died. I think it was simply telling their story. It also may have been a way to reintroduce them back into society and their own everyday lives. If an author can put you into the mind of the characters, in this case the team, you can rationalize their choices, their actions. Perhaps it paved the way and provided understanding for society to allow them to resume normal functioning and not be perceived as monsters for resorting to cannibalism. Or maybe it was a money maker? I haven't researched the motives, and it was before my time ;) (less)
