My DD loves all animals including cats, and I need a little more info. How is before getting this. Is it the cat the "bad guy" throughout, and is it then held negatively for acting like a cat naturally does? It's hard to tell from the description, but the preview looks a little like it's leaning in that direction. It looks lovely, otherwise, but I don't want to make her unhappy. Thanks!

The cat is a feral cat, not a domestic cat. Cats are prohibited from many nature reserves because, as predators, they cause devastation to indigenous wildlife. Rottnest Island is an A class nature reserve and, yes, when the feral cat arrives it threatens to harm the local animals, in particular the quokkas. It's up to the heroes to rescue a quokka from the "bad guy", as you put it. I understand your concerns, but the feedback I'm getting from children has been very positive as the book focuses on the bond between the young girl and the quokka. (less)
