When the two older men first meet, Lars tells a story about having to shoot a dog when he was a teenager. He says that his step-father was not home at the time. Would his step-father have been Trond's father? Trond's father and Lars' mother were working for the underground and were lovers, I believe. Trond never saw his father again after that summer of 1948.
