Certainly, it is written from a creationist perspective, and the topic does come up, but that's not what it's about. This is similar to another book that may make assumptions about the Earth being billions of years old without providing any proof. The book isn't about the age of the Earth. It's about dinosaurs, and they have to be described from a creationistic or evolutionary viewpoint. The Ph.D. who wrote this book seems to have made the assumption that someone reading a book called "Dinosaurs by Design" would likely be coming from the perspective of a creationist. If an evolutionist were seeking to attack a creationist book, then this probably would be the book to choose, because A, it's about dinosaurs, not creation vs. evolution, and B, it's a children's book, not an exhaustive study on the subject. However, since it is from a creationistic perspective, it does provide some mild evidence against evolution. The last paragraph on page 63 is one example of this. "Every one of the marine reptiles just popped into the fossil record fully formed at the very start. None are 25%, 50%, or 75% along the way; all are 100% complete. This is exactly what we would expect to find if God is the Creator of these creatures. These fossils give powerful evidence against evolution."
As for whether more proof exists of creationism, creationists and evolutionists have the same evidence to work with. Science deals with what we can observe. Both creation and evolution are looking to the past- that is to say, they're trying to determine answers about what happened that we didn't observe. So a history book that's passed many secular tests for historical accuracy is actually pretty strong evidence. The only question is, did the people who wrote it believe the truth, as the Christians say, or did they believe in fairy tales, like evolutionists say? That's where the science comes in, and, as previously stated, both sides have the same observations to work with.
As for God using evolution, this actually contradicts with the Bible. Many Christians have tried to make it fit, but in reality, it doesn't work. Part of the reason Christians reject evolution is because we see strong evidence for creation. For example, the fossil record, as mentioned above. Another example is the short half-life of C-14. There are many more examples that would make this even longer than it's already going to be. But the other side f why Christians reject evolution is because it doesn't match the Bible. The book of Genesis was written as a history book (as opposed to one of the two other types of books in the Old Testament: prophecy and poetry). The Bible clearly says evening and morning, not long ages, and also says that there was no death before man's first sin. The Bible, while some may try to say otherwise, is very much opposed to evolution, and the two sides cannot be reconciled.(less)
