I love Virgil Flowers when the book is not too gruesome, and this one sounds especially appealing. How graphically violent or perverted is this?

I found that there's enough reference to background of Virgil's techniques and his fellow investigator who come in and help him that you can read this novel as a standalone, just to wet your reading exposure to this character and this novelist's style of writing. So go ahead and read this book and see where you want to go with reading more of the series.(less)

Why does the Goodreads description above refer to "Pinion" Minnesota as the main locale for "Holy Ghost?" Rather than "Wheatfield" which is the town in the book?
