For me "Invitation to a Beheading" is the greatest piece of prose of all time. Nabokov detested a comparison to Orwell, he opined that the "how" matters and not the "what" (about). Indeed, its language (in Russian) is incredible. I reread many paragraphs as a pure joy of the language command. The main idea of the book should nevertheless be clear for all; it defines what Freedom is. Can you tell me what it is?
