I just finished River God and I am craving for more. The next book in the series is The Seventh Scroll, but from what I've gathered it's set in the present time while Warlock is a direct sequel to River God from the looks of it. Personally, I want to continue directly after River God ended as I don't care about the current day events. Will I be missing out (and if so, why?) if I skip The Seventh Scroll?

Can this book be read as a standalone? This is my first time picking up one of Wilbur Smith's books.

Billy Forbes you can read it as a stand alone but I would advise you to read River God and The Seventh Scroll first. Enjoy.
