The Unvanquished, which is Faulkner-lite - a collection of connected stories most originally published in The Saturday Evening Post... The Hamlet, a magnificent comedy a little easier than the dense tragedies. I'd say if you can't get into Sanctuary, try the Unvanquished, and if you can't get into either, try The Hamlet, and if you can't get into that, put him off for a year or so (less)
