I just finished the book and loved it. More than a war story, I see it as a coming of age story. Should I watch the movie?

The casting of the movie was perfect and every performance is outstanding . . . especially Bogart.

I'd wait 6 months or a year then watch the movie. Watching it right after reading it will undoubtedly be disappointing. Watching after a little time will be highly enjoyable though. (less)
