Do i have to read the second book to follow along on the third is lydia even in the second book other then to trade herself which inevitably Leads to the third book? Im not big on veering from a set of main characters and dont want to read the second but i want to know that it wont lose me on the third???

Personally, I'd say that you can skip Collateral Damage if you prefer to do it that way. There are a few references here and there which might be useful for you to know about, but I don't think it will ruin anything for you by skipping it. Truth be told, I wish I had!
