As Kc Merrill mentions, it does have some language, violence and sex, but I did not find any of it to be gratuitous; likely it is tamer than what our internet-age children are exposed to on an all-to-regular basis. I would always recommend reading (or listening to; the narrator is excellent) the book yourself either first or in tandem with your child and speaking with them about any ambiguous content that comes up. A primary premise of the book, the potential of being allied with the "wrong" side in a situation greater than yourself, is well worthy of deep discussion and can provide a parent with powerful insight into their child's moral, intellectual and spiritual growth.(less)

Yes.
The whole trilogy is out and there is nothing bad I could say about any of the 3, only that today it's not easy to find a great SiFi trilogy and I couldn't put this one down, not even for sleep so I always woke up with the book in my hands and right away searched to where I remember what I was reading before I started falling asleep and continued reading, that's how good this trilogy is !!!(less)

It's not easy to find a new SiFi trilogy that is as great as the old ones but finding this trilogy was a miracle and I totally recommend it.
I prefer listening to audio books ( this way I can close my eyes and let my imagination do its work !!! But with this book reading is also recommended because it's such a great book that the author already built the pictures for you with the story to go with it, so both choices will do just fine ).
Fully recommended, 4 stars is the low end 5 is probably more truthfully, so I'll go with 4.5 stars just to be fair. (less)
