It would not make very much sense unless one had read all three of Cassie Clare's series so far, specifically the Infernal Devices and Dark Artifices.

The series does not seem to be in any chronological order, but I believe each one tells a little bit more of a backstory to one or more of the characters in one of Cassie's other series.(less)
