"X meets y"? "Duology"? "Star-crossed romance"? Sounds like a Harper book!
Sasha x meets y is used for most books, and duologies are very common. there isn't really star crossed romance, though the romance is wonderful.

Several times, Lan corrects characters who call her "lady" or "milady" by telling them she is "not a lady", is this meant to show she's nonbinary, or merely doesn't hold that title?

Perhaps the author will answer, but was this novel loosely inspired by AION, an MMORPG from 2009? The basic premise is that the world of Atreia, ruled by a god known as AION, split in two, a dark side filled with Asmodians (demons) and a light side, filled with Elyos (angels). Each half has its own factions of deities and between the two halves exists the Abyss, where the two cultures collide.
