I am trying to avoid spoilers here! The premise of the book is that two young girls have been kidnapped for who knows what nefarious purpose and there is always that tension of the girls being in jeopardy. There is substantial violence throughout the book--none to animals--and a lot of drugs. The protagonist, Alice Vega, is a bounty hunter who does not pull punches when she fights and the violence is graphic, although not involving children. There is no child abuse within families. Vega notes that she has rescued 18 missing people, most children, and that a few were dead and others physically, mentally, and emotionally damaged. There is at least one graphic description of how Vega found a missing child. There is a cat who lives with a drug dealer, but is not harmed.
