I am reading the Dell Bantam paperback, and I'm curious about how reader's react to Chapter 4, which describes the Guardian computer on Easter Island using nanotechnology to rebuild (and improve?) the USS Washington and "infecting" humans with a nanovirus to induce slave-like obedience. Then, we go to an aerial firefight involving Russian-supplied jets and the "dragon" ship. Willing suspension of dis-belief anyone?

As for the use of it with humans, we are already testing implants to monitor certain health conditions, so I would consider it very possible. After all, we plan to put humans on Mars within the next decade. Syfy fiction has predicted a lot of things that turn out to be very true. Look at Jules Verne books as an example. (less)
