I can't understand much about the plot and I've watched both the films and the first season of Stand Alone Complex. I'm confused as fuck. I'm in chapter 4, can someone explain me what's going on?

I watched the original anime movie.Then the better HD version.Amazing,mind blowing movie.But I am not a fan of making now a big Hollywood movie,because we've seen so many stories where the allegedly big movie ,ended so bad that it ruined the original one.Don't u thinks so?
