I enjoyed this book. What wonderful characters! But did anyone notice quite a lot of 'tell' and not much 'show' in places? It seemed to be in the scenes where Eustace was a teenager. I wonder if this was a deliberate policy on Patrick Gale's part to differentiate the past from the present? Maybe too much 'tell' and not enough 'show' isn't a bad thing in this instance as it keeps the story rolling along? Thoughts?

I don't think we're able to interpret things at that age the way we can now, looking back. You're right though, it seemed to work beautifully at least for me. I loved the book and all the characters, especially Eustace.(less)
